The Toledo Surgical Society Educational Foundation was founded in 1997 as a 501(c)(3) organization to support the educational activities of The Toledo Surgical Society. The supported events include the annual resident essay forum, the Toledo Surgical Society St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center surgical scholarship and the Frederick M. Douglas Foundation Memorial Lecture.
The Foundation graciously accepts donations to support its educational mission.The St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center endowed the surgical scholarship awared annually to a graduating medical student from the University of Toledo College of Medicine (formerly the Medical College of Ohio).
The Frederick M. Douglas Foundation endowed an annual lectureship in memory of Frederick M. Douglas, MD FACS. His foundation is dedicated to surgical and medical education in the Northwest Ohio region.
